But cognitive debt, the lack of understanding, definitely increases as you, as a person, can’t keep up. I agree that reviewing shifts from line by line to an architectural understanding, but it’s a process as we become more confident in the code quality of coding agents.

My extra 2 cents on top of this article: ask your coding agent to explain parts of the merge request, which helps your understanding of reasoning, as well as detecting gaps between what you are designing and what was delivered.
