What is tsumami zaiku?
Tsumami zaiku (つまみ細工 – "the art of pinching") is a traditional technique dating back to the 1600s, still practiced in #Japan today.

Ikiya - Japan in Treviso

The beauty of a maiko’s costume lies in these cascading petals, swaying gently near her face. Our creations can be embellished with pearls or tiny bells, adding a soft chime to every movement.
We’ll use a clip-style base, perfect even for those with short hair. The workshop will focus on the maru tsumami technique, slightly adapted to recreate the signature scalloped edges of cherry blossom petals.
