Whilst the road from #Hormus is still closed, the #blockade at Regupol has been broken!
Today we received a delivery of brand-new red (RAL 3027 Raspberry Red) tatami mats with cotton canvas covers.
Foeldeak in Geretsried is the insider tip for those who have lost hope but still have a need, here is my hint.

@red_rooster would these be similar to the more solid, coarser mats you see in Japan (at least at Iwama and apparently Hombu)?
@Setok But I strongly assume that the mats of #Regupol different.
The Core development of Regupol is the recycling of Rubber products to sheets of milled rubber.
Those are used for all kinds of sports, acoustics, construction, flooring and stables for horses.
For sport .e.g the runway of berlin olympic stadium is made from Regupol.
So those sheets are the core for the mats, and then there is a canvas. For #Judo ususally vinyl, #Aikido perfers cotton to be able to slide on it without burns

@red_rooster I’m not sure I’ve seen cotton mats used anywhere in Finland. Always the same vinyl that judoka use. I might be wrong though.

I just know the ones they used in Japan were completely different. The surface was coarser (so maybe cotton?) and they were much more firm.

Makes ukemi a little harsher, but movement better.
