Dear #AskFedi
I use #WireGuard with my #FritzBox and their myfritz.net domain. It works smoothly but from different wifis, the host name is not resolvable.
Is this a common problem? Any idea how to fix this?

@usi
That is indeed a good point. Conflicting subnets could cause issues.

The 192.168.178.0-192.168.178.255 subnet is the standard for all AVM (Fritz!Box) devices.

Change your own subnet to something else like 192.168.179.0 and see if that solves the problem.

@alterelefant @usi @guerda

That wont lead to an unresolved address for the vpn endpoint and it would become an issue only after the von was established.

@expertenkommision_cyberunfall @alterelefant @usi I don't think it's the local IP subnets, as wireguard tells me that the host name cannot be resolved.

Also the IP address I got in the current wifi is a 10.x.x.x address

@guerda

Is the DNS Server you get restricted in somehow? Can you change to a public DNS server like 1.1.1.1?

@alterelefant @usi

@expertenkommision_cyberunfall I tried to override it via the android default dialogue but it doesn't work unfortunately.

@guerda

So it does not work to set it in the android or if you set it the dns settings do not work?
