"By using proven breathing and mindfulness techniques, we give them the power to manage stress in any situation, making them more lethal warfighters and more resilient in their recovery."

@EngagedPureLand - Yeah, this has been a conversation of late with me and friends.

Just had a conversation where we discussed that (for example) in the eightfold noble path we have "Right" or "Appropriate and Skillfully Applied" Mindfulness.

Which lead to a conversation in "Wrong" or "Inappropriate or Unskillfully Applied" Mindfulness. Just like we can have speech or action that can either help or hurt, so too can we have mindfulness that helps or hurts.

For them to take a tool that is designed and used to improve life and pervert it to hurt life is absolutely disgusting.

@tinker That's an interesting and useful conversation that you're reporting on. 100% Wrong Mindfulness exists as a real phenomenon. Maybe that's a label that needs to be overtly used at certain times, lest the mindfulness industry drift way too far afield from the Dharma (as that military example seems to suggest).
@tinker @EngagedPureLand I was thinking exactly the same thing reading the headline. "Wrong mindfulnesss" is micchā-sati, as opposed to the sammā-sati, or right mindfulness of the eightfold path.
