This week I'm confronting the question "Can somebody do this?", and exploring why it's so important to give each job a named owner, and how producers make a process of this in the industry.

Every Problem Needs An Owner

Why “somebody should do this” doesn’t get anything done

Better Game Production

@Ludiotic Having owners is a good start. Next: ensure to enable owners to solve the problem (tools/authority/skills), and make sure they have time in their busy schedules, esp. if the problem isn't one you can easily add to your regular sprint board.

I've seen so many RACIs and OKRs where people just weren't able to follow up, it's not funny anymore.
Usually due to time or people not having the skill to manage them next to their usual tickets (time mgmt coaching opportunity right here!).

@kwramm Very good points, and I see it too. People get scheduled all the way up to the eyeballs, so there's no time to respond to surprises.

I think the idea can be hard to stomach for some micro-managers; having people who's job is to be "available", which means accepting gaps in their schedule.
