Good night peeps, and happy Sunday. Something soothing from the garden: sage. It's one of my favourite herbs, delicious deep fried in a batter, a pretty plant, even though a bit fussy at our latitudes. I am very happy that I have some 5 established plants this year, both narrow and round leaved. #ontheplot #herbs #earlyspring https://pfaf.org/user/Plant.aspx?LatinName=Salvia+officinalis

@MPaola I recently sowed some sage as I donโ€™t have any on my plot.

It is a lovely herb and itโ€™s a good confuser plant to have around along with yarrow, lemon balm, applemint and rosemary. All of which I do have on the plot.

@Broadfork I think my plot is confusing enough as it is ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‚ but I am chasing every weedling of lemon balm atm and even nicked a couple of stems from a stray plant as I use it for pesto and there's never enough. The mints I have at home in planters to keep them close: how do you keep your mints?

@MPaola I have some apple mint grown from seed last year that is happily spreading. I will pot on some of it for home use and keep an eye on the rest. I still have work to do on that part of the plot to get the large bramble roots out.

I have lemon balm growing in several places around the plot. Like you I make a pesto with it. I like having aromatic plants around the place.

@Broadfork @MPaola

I grew this wood sage from seed. Sadly, it doesn't have any aroma but it is a beautiful ground cover for stony margins.

I am hoping that this plant will seed freely.

@lionelb @Broadfork it does look healthy!

The clay pot tipped over and it took off. A good indicator of its needs.
