I was told by someone that they missed one of my DM. I kinda assumed it was because of distraction, too many notifications, etc, but... today, wondering why someone hadn't replied to me, I checked my DM-only feed and... I had missed their DM!!!

Is there an issue with DM notifications with the current version of Mastodon?

I don't have a dm-only feed that I can find. Could that possibly be a feature of the particular client you are using?

Edit: you mean the "mentions" tab? If so, see that you aren't filtering out some types of mentions.

@jannem I'm using the basic default client on my computer (and Phanpy on mobile, but I'm old and barely use social media on mobile). There's a "private mentions" option in the menu on the right (with Lists, Followed Hashtags, etc.)

Ah, I didn't realize that. I mostly use the default Android client and it lacks the option.

Again, check that you aren't unknowingly filtering out some kinds of mentions.

@jannem I'm not. I also get notified for most but not all.
I'm afraid it could be because some notifications are marked as read when I check the latest ones on mobile, so then they don't appear when I'm at my desk or something like this.
