Vice Pres. Hubert Humphrey did not want to show much distance between himself and his Pres. Lyndon Johnson, @ginaintheburg. Humphrey lost the presidential election to Richard Nixon. Kamala Harris should have learned from that example instead of repeating Humphrey's mistakes.

@RonSupportsYou @ginaintheburg The situations differ significantly-Harris operates in a different political era and under different circumstances than Humphrey did in 1968.
@hannaB Someone can always learn from the past. Different eras include ancient Rome, and we can still learn lessons from events then.

@RonSupportsYou @hannaB

Seems like a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. I do think that Kamala Harris also had very little time to mount a campaign and a lot of damage was done to the public's confidence in the Dems ability to govern given the terrible way they handled the Biden issue that consequently & unfairly bled over into public apprehension about her competence as well. The DNC once again fumbled the ball and managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of success.

@RonSupportsYou True, but applying those lessons requires adapting them to the present context, not just copying the past playbook.
