Here we go again, some people have started hoarding toilet paper.

"Yesterday afternoon, the Herald observed several shoppers at Pak n Save Mt Albert with trolleys full of water and toilet paper as queues started to form."

Honestly, it's a cyclone which is unlikely to give you diarrhoea. Toilet paper is the least of your worries.

Cyclone Vaianu: Shoppers strip shelves, supermarkets warn of gaps, early closures

Foodstuffs stores may shorten opening hours, with PAK'nSAVE Kaitaia shut at 8pm.

The New Zealand Herald

@BobLefridge Cyclones damage infrastructure. If that includes supermarkets and/or the roads to get there then it might be useful to have an extra pack of TP, especially in a large family, and especially if you know you're already running a little low which statistically there's always going to be a proportion of the population who are, and especially when the authorities have been specifically warning people to stock up on key supplies.

After the earthquakes my *two* nearest supermarkets were munted and for I-forget-how-many-weeks I had to take a half hour bus ride to do all my grocery shopping - I started making my own bread just so I'd have one less thing to carry back. If I had advance warning of anything infrastructure-threatening here again I'd definitely update my shopping list from "what do I need now / next few days" to "what might I need in the next few weeks".

(Probably not anyone's actual thought process but also floodwater definitely can cause diarrhoea....)
