oh no ... not the data centers ....

@arrrg

love that last 5 words, the sweetest sound is cancelled techie corposhit

@arrrg we're gonna need a tinier violin
@arrrg i guess 2026 isn't all bad
@arrrg Slop data centers?
@arrrg Man, I guess all those AI-slop-eating CEOs are gonna have to sell off all those RAM sticks, graphics cards, CPUs and motherboards that they were buying up for these data centers. If only there were an audience of consumers who were willing to pay fair prices to purchase these computer parts, but alas...
@mast0d0nphan @arrrg I am reading my popcorn for all hardware corpos that withdraw from consumer market for this 😅
@mast0d0nphan The issue is that even if all those datacenter Hardware would come to the market from big datacenter sale offs, nearly nobody could use them. Server Hardware is often very different from enduser/consumer Hardware. Graphic cards for example are build as compute units, without any kind of output connector like hdmi or display port.
@arrrg First good news all year...
@decapitae Sora was shut down too. Maybe 2nd good news?
@arrrg Define “worse”.
@arrrg oh no step datacenter, I am stuck in a crisis
@arrrg First they came for the data centers, and I was not a data center, consuming normal human amounts of water and electricity...
@arrrg this development may bode well for pro-data center politicians.
@arrrg Now if the other half can get cancelled
@arrrg half? Most likely majority of them.

@arrrg

For those opposing new LLM-ai data centers in their area, beware!

The corps behind these projects are being sneaky. In Seattle WA, it was just disclosed (in today's Seattle Times) that 5 new mega data centers are proposed for "the Seattle area"...But! The info on who wants to build what, and where-- is *not* being disclosed because of NDAs!!

If you want to oppose new data centers in your area, get in contact with your local Sierra Club. And keep up on your local news!

@arrrg worse… or better?
