None of these are true if you run your own LLMs on your own hardware, using FLOSS models.
But the #MastodonHOA has deemed all AI to be abhorrent as a blanket decision.
And frankly, if you exist in a capitalist society, and you're not an owner, there is 100% chance you are exploited. The capitalist system requires it.

They use "horrendous amounts of hardware, energy and stolen data" because that's what they want to sell to the public so nobody tries to make their own models but it's false. I made a model to detect when my cat gets close to the door house an took me 2 days to train on a laptop. That model is NOT "garbage", is completely functional for what i need. You (as almost everybody here on mastodon) have fallen in the widespread rhetoric by the big tech corps that only them can make the AI. You think you are fighting them but you are only acting as they expect you act.
They want you to refuse completely AI instead of embrace it, make it democratic and ethic. They know that the vast majority of population will buy what they sell sooner or later if their only choice is all or nothing. Watch somebody saying it better than me.

When people argue about "AI" these days, they usually refer to the chatty LLMs that regular folks call AI.
