@Sonikku damn that sexy.

@bigzaphod I’m honestly shocked at the condition. There’s not a scratch or a scuff on it.

It had a fair amount of grime so I wasn’t sure but after wiping it down it’s essentially perfect looking.

Of course, I’ve yet to power it on. Trusting a PSU almost as old as I am may be a bit risky. Could let out the magic smoke.

@Sonikku yeah and those C64 power supplies were especially bad, as I recall. They can fail in a way that fries the computer. Gonna want something better, probably. Although I'd have a hard time not just.... going for it. 😛

@bigzaphod tempted just to see it boot. I would get reimbursed for the $50 I spent if it explodes by work if I return it.

But also it’s worth a LOT more than I paid which is hard not to consider also.

@bigzaphod even if it does power in I’m not gonna trust it in the long term. Looks like you can get a safe, modern replacement for like $45-$50 or so.
@Sonikku probably at least could fire up the power supply without the computer plugged in and measure the voltages to see if they're right.

@bigzaphod yep that’s step 2

Step 1 is a need a shower. Working in ewaste involves lots of dust getting on ones person.

@bigzaphod yeah PSU is dead, multimeter sees nothing coming from it.

Guess I got to wait on a new power supply. Oh well, safer that way anyway

@Sonikku doh! But yeah - much safer. Are all the chips actually inside the thing?
@bigzaphod well jeez now you got me curious. Guess I’ll dig out a screwdriver in a bit
@bigzaphod looks good to me. Even the shield looked immaculate.
@Sonikku damn it's like it's never been used.
