Bye bye spyware and AI batshit crazy Windows 11.

I have said this before and I will say it again, it is time that taxpayers, who are the majority of regular folks in every country, should not pay a single penny to the likes of Microsoft. Taxpayer money should only go to FLOSS. Enough is enough with these big corporations. They have failed to protect user privacy and safety and obsessed with AI like teenagers.

@nixCraft OK but how is a FLOSS project going to offer politicians a bribe made entirely of cocaine and underage girls?

Imagine those poor politicians having to pay for their own Michelin star dinners and having no money parachute after leaving office. Bet you feel real silly now huh?

@nixCraft problem is that #Taxpayers (unlike #Consumers when buying stuff for themselves) have neither leverage nor means to actually do this.

That is what laws are meant for. Believe or not, but all rules based societies do regulate what tax collected money can be used for.

Back in the 1990s any software developed in-house by NOAA had to be made public domain because the public had paid for it.

@nixCraft @cstross that final comparison is grossly unfair. To teenagers. https://stefanbohacek.online/@stefan/116377286633117985

"The percentage of respondents ages 14 to 29 who said they felt hopeful about A.I. declined sharply since last year, down to 18 percent from 27. Young adults’ excitement about artificial intelligence dropped, too, and nearly a third of respondents indicated that the technology made them feel angry." That's rough. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/09/style/gen-z-ai-gallup-study.html?unlocked_article_code=1.ZlA.wN1w.cqoDFMOIp-qT&smid=url-share #news #technology #TechNews #AI #LLMs
