Christ XP was great, but Christ 98SE was the best.

@CursedSilicon I always had to turn that crap off ASAP. By the time I really got into XP I found bbLean and switched the shell away from Internet Explorer (because why the F was an Internet browser the shell???) Saved a fair bit of RAM and everything ran snappier, especially in the earlier days of XP when I didn't have tons of RAM. (For 9x I don't know if there were ever any shell replacements, but one could at least use 98Lite and just not install IE5 crap, but of course XP baked that in and more extreme measures became necessary.)
