AGI/Vista - "Prima di entrare nei dettagli di quello che è stato fatto e di quello che ancora si farà, non voglio chiaramente esimermi da una breve riflessione sull’Italia che ci è stata consegnata dal voto referendario del 22 e del 23 marzo scorsi. Un’Italia che ha visto una grande partecipazione popolare al voto e, allo stesso tempo, un’altrettanto grande polarizzazione. Un confronto serrato, ahimè non sempre sul merito, ma con un esito comunque chiaro. Noi, come ho già detto, rispettiamo sempre il giudizio degli italiani, qualunque esso sia, anche quando non coincide con le nostre opinioni o con le nostre aspettative. Certo, rimane il rammarico di aver perso un’occasione, a nostro avviso storica, di modernizzare l’Italia, allineandola agli standard europei. An Italy that saw a great popular participation in the vote and, at the same time, an equally great polarization. A fierce contest, unfortunately not always on merit, but with a clear outcome nonetheless. We, as I have already said, always respect the judgment of the Italians, whatever it may be, even when it does not coincide with our opinions or our expectations. Of course, there is regret at having lost a historical opportunity to modernize Italy, aligning it with European standards.
