#PennedPossibilities 980 Have you ever had your work plagiarized or stolen?

Yes: I'm a party to the Anthropic AI class action lawsuit. They'd plagiarized 28 out of 33 of my novels for AI training purposes, the fuckers. I'm looking forward to my payout (with the caveat that their out-of-court settlement is much lower than their maximum liability under US copyright law).

@cstross Well the liability under copyright law was written with a view to bankrupting users of file sharing programs like Bittorrent. So the theoretical liability to all authors probably exceeds the US GDP.

@tokensane @cstross I figure that taking the settlement means you probably get your money before they go bankrupt, sue them, and you're probably just another unsecured creditor. Yes, I'm an AI doomer.
