So, my LILYGO T-Deck Plus arrived. I guess that means I will now need to get a clue and start doing something useful with #meshtastic and #meshcore (because, of course, there's competing standards). The immediate neighbourhood is quite dead naturally (mostly trees and lakes around), but I'll be going into town next week and carry the thing with me to see if I can connect to anything (if I can even figure out how that is supposed to work).

@gmc remember to search the web and check if there's any #meshtastic or #meshcore community already in place in your area. Mesh communities tend to move away from the default settings.

@py2toz @gmc this is pretty important. we have a whole #meshcore community in my area on standard settings with a discord and events schedule. we recently discovered a whole other mesh with a dozen or so nodes that's running on a non-US frequency.

@K3LOE unknown, and also unknown. it's some dude who won't talk to anyone else and is using the nodes like a personal pager system up in the hills. i'm a ham too, and think this is nuts, but i'm not invested enough to go foxhunt some chud's nodes up in the boonies.
