***TRIGGER WARNING***

One of my childhood friends had a post about Elvis on their page.

I sourced an interview with John Lennon stating that Elvis had culturally appropriated Black Music:

They unfriended me.

I thought that at least they're being honest now.

Previously they had wanted me to spend time with they and their white husband to shift me on some matter.

They chose not to present me with a stat to shift my perspective bc they knew there were none.

I sent them a voice message explaining that if they had spoken to me politely, we could have discussed what their issue was with my response; but as it was not, further communication might trigger me [making me shout and swear at others]; so I had to restrict our conversation.

I explained that most non Black People find it hard to even discuss such truths.

The abuse gave me PTSD which makes me hypervigilant which extends to social justice which is why I cannot ignore prejudice.

Seriously? Even Eminem sang about it, like, it's a known thing I thought. I'd guess they would just rather do the US classic of actively ignoring things you don't want to think about

That didn't load very well for me and it stalled out 5/6 of the way through, but I caught a very good point- Pretending things aren't happening is def not safe for everyone. As a gringo myself, that was firmly in my blind spot. I could afford to bury my head in the sand if I wanted and be fine.

It was very cool to see and hear you speak, thank you for that.
