I really enjoyed the limits of the Zorn palette for this challenge. I wasn't sure where to start or what to aim for, since I knew I didn't want to lean on any of the four solid core colors as a base for the mini. So I just mixed colors until I found one I liked and let that pick my direction.

If I were to do something similar again I'd really like to try to set it up for one big, uninterrupted block of time. As much as I found mixing initial colors very zen, trying to match them when I came back after a few days was really rough. For the blue leather I just went over it all completely at one point because I couldn't match what I had done before for touch-ups.

Bonus palette shot:

I also couldn't get the colors to behave like a wash when I tried. That turned out to be helpful though because it meant I did more highlighting and drybrushing instead, and I really pushed some of the smaller drybrushes I don't usually use.

I really thought I did better with the moldlines, but cripes they stood out on this bastard.
