We've all since childhood and throughout our lives been either placed in positions, or naively applied for positions for which we weren't actually qualified, be it from adequate training or experience, or even personality traits.
I know I've been in that situation a handful of times. Then what? Most people either pull out all the stops and try to become qualified to fill those shoes. Or some leave the job for another for which they are more qualified.
I'm amazed at the number of Trump appointees in way over their heads. They don't consider their responsibilities of a serious enough nature to doubt their abilities or take steps (as mentioned) to fix it .
