3 males together is rare I think...
But I have never seen them in the wild.

But maybe if you can organise and one day visit Uganda,we have very many in the national parks with other wild animals that are so unique.
You can search about the elephants on google but this is not enough.
By the way,one of the interesting things with elephants,they females have a gestation period of 22 months.

@2003MugishaPhocit Well, Uganda won't be in my travel plans soon. If you'd caught me 20-30 years ago, I might have been on a plane already!
I have read up a lot on elephants. Like most things. Fascinating for so many reasons.

Now back to the photo,those elephants you saw standing evenly,they were in front of our car,but there were others at the back,and all sides.
Our car was found in the middle.
It was not a new thing to them but they were protecting their young ones from any harm they thought from us.
And the drive had to shut the car ingeene.
And thanks for the research you made on them to know how they carry on their lives.

@2003MugishaPhocit I know that the males will show up to protect. And African and Asian elephants use very low frequencies to communicate.
It looks like they were defending against something.
You showed up in the middle of it.
Unless you were driving very slowly, they were reacting to something else.
