I think I know why this time, getting back in the gym, has been more successful than other sputtering starts:

I didn't try to make too many changes at once. Last week, I ate whatever I wanted. This week, I'm slowly bringing in healthier choices, while continuing cardio and weights.

I think with previous attempts, I tried to do too much at the same time.

@kimlockhartga Sounds wise. Just progress slowly and note down your sessions! Weight x reps x sets for each exercise!
@davep I tend to be a bit scattered. My executive functions are not good. 😁

I know this about myself, so I made the excellent decision to get an #AppleWatch in the fall, in the hopes of getting nagged into better condition. It's working beautifully so far, as various markers in the health app are demonstrating. I'm especially pleased about cardio recovery and VO2 Max. Very clear trends are evident.
I later returned to using the MyNetDiary app to track my daily food intake without clear goals. 20 pounds have since moved out of my body.
@EllenInEdmonton @davep hey, good for you!

@kimlockhartga @EllenInEdmonton Seriously though, get a pad and pen and just not down all your exercises including warm-ups as weight x reps x sets for each weight. It really helps to know where you're at and the progress you make (you can also take notes such as "5lb working weight increase next session" etc). Low tech and really useful.

Start by underlining your previous workout and put the date to the left.

@davep @EllenInEdmonton This is a great idea that I will never do. I know me. 😂
@kimlockhartga @davep Never say never! I eschew all pen and paper tasks, but I’ve maintained a journal of my sewing projects that has over 50 full-sized pages I’ve filled with my work ! If it’s something you can easily carry around the gym, you just may! I think the Nike+ app is handy for recording exercises and reps.
