divVerent@realtegan Sorry to tell you, but the US have not been a civilized country for quite a while now. I'd say the downfall started with George W. Bush ending human rights for "security", but Trump 2.0 accelerated it massively. And of course Congress won't step up. They represent the people, and the people wanted this guy (about 30% of voters or were at least fine with him (the 40% who did not bother voting).
