Why waste money on commercial, fossil fuel derived fertilisers when you can make your own? Very cheaply too.

Give the garden centre aisles of horrific horticultural chemicals a miss and do your plants, our insects, wildlife and the planet a favour instead.

This talk by Nigel Palmer has recently been added to the Acres USA YouTube channel. The second half especially focusses on FPJ’s and is well worth the watch if you want to know more about this subject.

His website has so much useful information also https://www.nigel-palmer.com/

@Broadfork

Brilliant video!!!!!

@BrambleBearSnoring Glad you liked it. I found it really useful.
@Broadfork I have not watched this one yet, but after listening to the other podcast with the information on rhizophagy, it now makes much more sense why fermented soil additives are so helpful.

@marsiposa Information about biological farming just doesn’t reach the mainstream. Academia, Big Ag and capitalism aren’t fans. Which all drew me in.

I’ve been dipping my toe into these waters for several years and trying to tailor techniques to my own veg, flower and fruit growing.

FPJ’s are effective because they are broad spectrum amendments that are available in a plant available form. Unlike other amendments plants don’t need to use energy to convert them into a form they can use.

@Broadfork I am always baffled as to how monolithic academia can be.

I've never tried much things other than compost, but this idea of plants eating bacteria really changes my thinking. I may try them out this year. Besides the nutrients, a fermented liquid will provide lots of bacteria, and possibly inoculate the soil. Like eating fermented foods.

@marsiposa They feed plants and the soil biology. Using them restores & regenerates soil but it takes time to build soil health.

We are too slow to ditch Big Ag’s influence and poisons.

FWIW these people have influenced my gardening journey. They’ve all helped put research into practice or offer practical advice: John Kempf, Harriet Mella, Chris Trump, Graeme Sait, Master Cho, Gabe Brown, Nigel Palmer, Geoff Lawton, Christine Jones, Elaine Ingham, Nicole Masters, Jesse Frost, Charles Dowding.
