Married and own a home by 30 year old in the US:

2025: 12%
2010: 25%
2000: 35%
1990: 43%
1980: 45%
1970: 48%
1960: 52%

I’m sure everything is fine.

@FluentInFinance @mjt if this is sbout the economy, why is "married" a criterion?
@deborahh @FluentInFinance @mjt I assume, a marriage might be an indicator for "confidence for a good life in future*, like buying house is.
@Reinald @FluentInFinance @mjt I think, in the US, not all partners have the privilege of marriage, in all states.
@deborahh @Reinald @FluentInFinance For now (and I emphasize “for now,”) the Supreme Court’s various rulings on the subject permit any two people to get married legally. Federal law (or court-interpreted Constitutional issues) control, superseding state laws. But clerks who register marriages and issue marriage licenses can subvert federal law if they’re not sued or exposed. (1/2)
As with all rights, they’re not actively enforced by a god nor governments. Rights depend on the goodwill and support of the body politic, and the US body politic needs a really good doctor. (2/2)
