Diving into Mastodon a bit like the chaffinch diving off this branch. Hi everyone, I'm John a hobbyist wildlife photographer based in Scotland. I currently upload all of my images to Flickr but I'm wanting somewhere else to share some of them too. Still not quite sure how Mastodon works but hope to view yours and share more of my wildlife and nature photographs.

@johnmwildlife I think its great what you are doing. Does Flickr charge anyone using your photos? The current picture shows a bird taking off. I think photos do also provide a message..

@MokhtarStork Thank you! To be honest, I've no idea about Flickr. My understanding is anyone can view or download them for free under the Creative Commons license - but don't quote me on that!

@johnmwildlife @MokhtarStork I don’t think Flickr has any built-in monetizing, and they themselves don’t charge anything or require a specific license—you can set whatever license you want for your own pics.

@tero @johnmwildlife Tero: I have often used Flicker in the past. I also use other such outlets to get a free picture. But, I never looked into posting photos on any of them... thus my ignorance. By the way, if I am not mistaken, all out snapshots on our cellphone or is Google... in small time are already owned by them?
