Medea"hiding away"
I'm not one to title my photos but when I saw the Pink-butterfly Orchid (Anacamptis papilionacea) it just gave me the impression that the hood made by the petals folded together were like arms and hands covering an imaginary face ๐
The union of these petals and sepals has a scientific name: galea. Their purpose is to protect the reproductive parts of the plant from rain, wind or unwanted visitors.
