West Midlands' new railway stations open to the public

Moseley Village, Kings Heath and Pineapple Road stations opened to passengers on Tuesday morning.

BBC News
does anyone know why it's called Pineapple Road? I know that was the name of the old station, but... how did it get that name? These days Moseley is more your artisanal goats cheese and Parma ham (the other two ingredients for a good pizza), but I'm pretty sure it's never been pineapple country, unless the constant rain only started in about 1920
@sil There was a poll of locals. Because it’s on the KH / Stirchley border, and because people like whimsy, it went to the Pineapple. https://www.birminghamworld.uk/news/pineapple-road-to-be-one-of-birminghams-new-railway-stations-3730924

@sil As to why pineapple, it’s by the Pineapple Estate, a post-war housing development that Pineapple Road runs through. As to why _that’s_ called pineapple, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Possibly from when pineapples were mad popular in the 18th century? Though that's a bit pre-Brum…

@sil https://wmnplab.org/home/number-11-know-your-place/number-11-know-your-place-online/pineapple-bridge/ reckons it was named after PIneapple Farm and speculates about that name
