Did Canada really pass a law making at least ten million more people into citizens, without even a background check? I don't recall much debate about this last year; seems to me we should have given this some study.

As I understand the articles, the new citizenship law does not say that anyone with Canadian ancestry has a right to Canadian citizenship with certain hoops they must jump through; but that such persons *are* Canadian citizens, and they merely need to prove their ancestry to have full rights. That seems to me like an important difference.
