Randahl Fink

If you are into dark and gritty thriller series, definitely put Detective Hole on your watch list. It is based on the crime novels by Norwegian novelist Jo Nesbø, and it really shows: It is complex, has interesting characters, and a plethora of surprising twists.

If CSI Miami is shallow like a puddle of water, Detective Hole is The Mariana Trench.

It has some extreme and gut wrenching scenes that I found very unpleasant, but other than that, it is very enjoyable.

@randahl I considered subscribing to Netflix but sending $ across the Atlantic is unthinkable. I have moved most digital subscriptions to Europe. Some still pending.

@randahl I can't, alas. I use Linux Mint which comes with an IPTV streaming app with dozens of channels pre-configured and organized by country, but without a corresponding EPG.

I shall have another go at watching it.

The first episode spent so much time with his family and not the plot that I shelved it. With so much good TV to watch (Korean and Japanese!!), when a crime series focuses too much on the protagonist's personal life then it's on hold 🙂

@randahl I want to throw in my pick which is the Australian dark comedy crime drama "Mr Inbetween". Great characters, well executed action pieces, family values in a compact 30-minute or less episodes.

@randahl sometimes to extreme in violence. An open end, Will there be season two? But certainly a must see. #hole
