Me tuning the radio at News Time, 🦝 Ahh yes, news time
Me visiting the news website when I want to know the news, 🦝 hmm, the daily news
Me when a random news article appears uncw'd from outta fucking nowhere in a social media app???? 🦝 oh I see, it's like an ad, but for anxiety
@RoseThorndyke @ifixcoinops
Dang, I can see this, it's such a good analogy.
I post/boost news with 'Everyone' visibility when I feel like there's something actionable to it, and I post art and other personal things as 'Followers', because I want to prevent webscrapers & bots. And I feel discouraged from posting cool stuff at all _because_ of the nonstop pol. So I end up appearing annoying, and yet I really feel invisible. I'll have to think about it...
@ifixcoinops I just rather read the articles from the original source and steer clear of the comments. Here or anywhere else where people can comment on the articles, nothing valuable is very rarely added. It's either "this bad person is bad" or "this good thing is good" and someone giving them a reach around of "yeah, good thing is so damn good".
Then there's the local national broadcasting company's news site, where something bad is reported and the first comments scream how Putin is just misunderstood.
@ifixcoinops Ah, see I remember it more like:
Newsfolk are so used to the idea of staying in a Nazi bar for visibility they can't even fathom just... going literally anywhere else. With a few clicks. Just what an astonishing lack of imagination.
@ifixcoinops i feel like...actual reporters on social media is interesting. guerilla journalism kinda thing.
pretty rare for that nowadays though. they just get drowned out anyway
