A small, arbitrary fraction of today's bugs (the term 'bugs' being used particularly loosely):

Andrena cineraria, mining bee
Nomada sp.?, nomad bee
Wolf spider from the Lycosidae
Palomena prasina, shieldbug

These are great. I really like the yellow leaves pic. I’m waiting for praying mantises to show up, so far all I’ve got is shield bugs everywhere. 😂
(Thanks!)

Loads of solitary bees here - with massive bumblebee queens lumbering about. And some shieldbugs! Now I'm wondering if praying mantises appear in the UK anywhere...

(Best spot so far was a hummingbird hawk-moth, a few weeks ago. Didn't get a photo, alas - it was hovering around the top of a flowering cherry tree. Had probably over-wintered here?)
@[email protected] I just looked it up and praying mantises have been noticed in Cornwall mostly and some other spots as well but they are just beginning to establish themselves as a native species (per Google)
Interesting!

There's definitely a northerly march of insect distributions, what with climate change - last year I spotted a load of Philanthus triangulum bee-wolves in a park in west London. Apparently they were extremely rare in the UK until quite recently...
