LINUX NEWS

Vendefoul Wolf Linux (Devuan-based) rejects age verification:

(Never heard of this distro before, but it's always good to have some more options to go to, especially distros which reject most of the mainstream stuff which are more prone to age verification and other forms of corruption.)

Qubes will do whatever upstream Fedora does (so likely comply):
https://github.com/QubesOS/qubes-issues/issues/10744#issuecomment-3997244349

CachyOS also refuses compliance:

Garuda Linux plans to "comply" in the least invasive way possible, only with some checkboxes:
https://forum.garudalinux.org/t/a-statement-on-age-verification-the-state-of-the-community-discourse/47652

Parrot will only comply if legally forced to, it's implementation will be easy to bypass:
https://parrotsec.org/blog/2026-04-02-our-statement-about-age-verification/
(I wonder what they mean under being forced. When they receive an email from the authorities, or what? 🤔)

OpenMandriva won't implement age verification, but won't remove it from Systemd, stating it can be useful for other things:

(The comment right below describes pretty well, what the problem is with this...)

CuerdOS (Debian-based distro) rejects age verification:

HyraxOS (Linux Mint-based distro) also refuses age verification:

Fluff Linux (Arch-based) also says no:

And Athena OS (Arch and NixOS-based ethical hacking distro) too:

@fosserytech I tried #vendefoulwolf #budgie edition live mode to test it out, it's what you would expect from a Devuan based distros: No WiFi ooftb xD, also it's been a while since I tried budgie, it had like many redundant software, two settings apps, two or maybe 3 file managers.. I was so lost.. no welcome screen! (I'm I not welcomed?) It needs a lot of work, can't say I'll recommend to a beginner but.. I'll install it for them

It's main selling point to me is that it doesn't use the cursed (happy to comply) Systemd

@levi no Wifi? That's interesting. I thought distros with Linux Libre kernel are the only ones which don't have Wifi driver installed ootb. Not a problem to me though, I use wired Internet
@fosserytech Devuan and Debian don't usually have WiFi drivers, but that can be fixed (all my installations are offline btw)
@levi I have Wifi on my Debian system, and I didn't install anything. Maybe it depends on the network card then I guess
