There's someone begging outside a grocery shop.

Do you ask what they want you to buy them? What they're allergic to? No—they might glom on to you, tag along. That'd be uncomfortable.

Do you choose items for them as you do your shopping?

🍏An apple, a bottle of water, and a package of mixed nuts are rich in calories and nutrients, can travel, and will keep without refrigeration.
🥯 A fresh muffin might crumble, but a bagel wouldn't. If the flour is fortified, it'd be nutritious, though does lean toward empty calories.
🧀 A package of cured meat or hard cheese can travel, are high in nutrients and calories, and would last a half day without refrigeration if it's not too hot outside.
🪥A toothbrush and tube of toothpaste can travel. So can deodorant and a pack of wet wipes.

For people who are struggling but don't want to accept charity (shame and pride 😢), when you let someone help you it's good for THEIR soul. That's a gift you can give in exchange.
