I haven't seen a popular instance for fun-bot accounts since the departure of bots.in.space. Anyone seen a site that caters to that sort of activity? #askFedi

I'm not talking malicious or insidious bots, but rather fun bots that add value to #masto, like @samuelpepys, @_random_cafe etc..

Many instances will allow non-malicious bots, so perhaps I need to just choose a reliable instance and use that.

I have a few fun bots that have been idle since #botsInSpace left the building.

@ottaross @samuelpepys @_random_cafe I remember when I first got started that .social was the place for "not fun" bot accounts.

Hundreds of accounts of people just posting what they were listening to at the moment or a thousand varieties of what kind of plane is overhead right now.

I am sort of glad those all went away.

Made the public feed useless.

@PatrickoftheG yeah, I see those sorts of firehose, and bland-bots pop up in my feed.

Seems lots of AI driven ones, like an endless stream of album or book covers, with a bland paragraph about the item.

On the other hand the Sam Pepys toots for example are quite compelling, as are the random restaurant pics.
