While I would like #Mastodon to be far more established in society than it currently is, I don't think religiously looking at the MAU metrics is particularily helpful in that regard. There is no direct monetary motivation behind its distribution, so nobody even cares for precise numbers. I fully expect the quality of these metrics to be off by an order of magnitude due to the lack of motivation for spending the effort. That nonwithstanding, everybody joining up is a win!
