Many times #religion has been used to suppress free speech & science, genocide and imperialistic land grabbing. #Europe was for a long time technologically superior. Europeans grabbed land in #Africa, they performed crusades, but suppressed #science that contradicted the bible.

The US is a result of European #imperialism.
