Did you know that a human hit by a car at 30 km/hr has a 90% chance of survival?

A person, hit by a car at 40 km/hr has a 60% chance of survival.

Your neighbour, hit by a car at 50 km/hr has a 20% chance of survival.

Your friend, hit by a car at 60 km/hr has no chance of survival.

The chances of survival are cut in half if hit by a large truck or SUV.

This is maybe the only graph where I lament people using metric units. This graph would be far scarier if it showed mph.

@harold and yet, every time people oppose changes that would make streets safer, or say that cities prioritize enforcement revenue over safety, they say 'we don't have data '
How Paris swapped cars for bikes – and transformed its streets
