After a last short morning stroll around Nagoya Castle in the morning of day 11 of my first Japan trip in 2006, it was a short 45' Shinkansen ride to Kyoto. Upon arrival, I left my bags at the hotel and headed out to explore Kyoto Station and Nishiki Market.

@norbertwoehnl Kyoto Station is one of my favourite buildings in Japan, it's a remarkable piece of architecture (but a right pain to get to the top of those stairs, even with the escalators). The station as a station is really easy to navigate too.

@phl Yes, it feels like you need to take half a day off to get to the very top of that side of the building 😅
