fwiw, as a strayan in straya who loathes orange oaf, magamorons, & everything about this latest ongoing merkan warcrime, i have zero sympathy for any & all merkan military peeps captured, injured or killed in this illegal war. that they serve under such blatantly criminal administration is a major moral failure on their part, so if the karma bus hits them, too damn bad.

@RealJournalism maybe you don't grasp just how loathed merka is in straya atm? merka has decades of history destabilising govts around the world, covertly & overtly, plus concomitant history of trying to export its loony rwnj christo-fascism to subvert other cultures. orangeoaf is ofc the very worst of all your contemporary bad presidents, & he & acolytes & enablers are beyond mere contempt... but he is far from the first prez administration to be a toxin to the rest of the rock. i stand by all i said in my OP, & that you have the misjudgement to label me a troll for it is absolutely missing the mark. also, fwiw, yes i do despise merkan military, i despise all militaries which deploy their murderous violence beyond their borders in overt offensive aggression. if they wish to fuck up their own country, well that's stupid enough, but to project that violent stupidity beyond their own borders is outrageously immoral.

I do have sympathy for the people who have gone into the military, possibly as a way to get out of poverty or to pay for college. Are sent to carry out the commands of the deranged. Trump et al are foisting PTSD on these people.

it is true that USA is so phukt the military is the best career option for too many — offering security of employment, education, and health care.
THAT IS NOT A GREAT TEMPLATE FOR ANY SOCIETY

but also, knowing that at any time i could be asked to fight in an immoral war, or enforce an immoral or biased law, i do not understand how people with a conscience can either join the military, or join a police force.
i mean, hows that military oath to protect constitution (rather than some despot’s cronies) of USA working at the moment?

reverence for troops is an especially vacuous cultural tool, and i say that having many family members who have been in the australian military (including one who was killed by USA when they sank Montevideo Maru)

australia was right to defend itself in WWII, but blind military allegiance to any country, especially one as corrupt as usa, is the road to perdition

dislike of national policy or actions is not necessarily the same as hatred for individuals. i actually pity USians, and never assume it is a democracy by any great measure. THE WHOLE IS OTHER THAN THE SUM OF ITS PARTS

and disagreement is not necessarily trolling

[a general remark for any casual reader] to contextualise my posts, here & elsewhere, when i rail against "merka", i mean it as a malign institution in toto. i certainly do not mean opprobrium against every single merkan, coz that would be logically bereft & prolly a form of racism, which i eschew. the sad tragedy though is that notwithstanding the doubtless multitudes of fine merkan individuals, somehow it all goes badly wrong when all merkans come together as a national grouping, coz... well, i mean, the whole world sees how crazy bonkers bad merkan society is with its hideous economic stratification, & obscene use of the delusion of religion to actively victimise & harm multiple minorities. as for the loony political system itself, which comically describes itself as "the greatest democracy in the world", well simply ahahahaha.
