Apparently so, although there are a LOT of mountains, and it's generally just here that it stays dry. Sigh...
@czarbucks Look, Asheville is in a deep valley with mountains on all sides. I see no other valley like this. From whichever direction the rains comes, the air has to rise first and looses most of its moisture.
