We got two new colonies - a rescue of sorts - the former beekeeper unfortunately developed an allergy and had to part ways with them. So, now we have five colonies in our suburban yard - it’s gonna get busy this this summer!
We name our colonies by the colors of their hives. The color choices are part aesthetic and part practical - with some consideration to bee color perception. And so yellow and pink will be joining green, blue and purple.

It’s still a bit too cold for inspections and a proper introduction will have to wait. In the meantime I’m preparing their new accommodations.

Yes, but they all positive and enjoying the honey we produce. The bees are barely noticeable outside the yard.

Haha yes - we’re feeling the effect of the storm “Dave” here and the colonies are still light this early in the season. It’s a quick fix, I usually anchor the hives to the foundation they are standing on - just didn’t want to take any chances.
