Returning home from work this afternoon I was greeted by a cluster of bees sitting in a small tree right next to our hives. We had one of our hives - probably the oldest of them - swarm last Saturday and I assume that it is the same bees that have returned.
I had an extra hive ready, and without much hassle I managed to get them off the branch. If I didn’t know better they actually seemed happy to move in.

Saturday excitement! Around noon I hear buzzing getting louder and louder - I go out to have a look and see one of our colonies swarming! Amazing sight and sound - they hung around for a minute or two and then decided to take off to the west - cartoon style.
A subsequent inspection of both hives revealed nothing out of the ordinary - normal amount of bees and no queen cells to be found …
Great activity in the hives today! Plenty to forage in the neighborhood - dandelion, apple, pear, chestnut and rapeseed among much else blooming at the moment. Will probably need to add another super to both hives in a week or so.
