I think Voyager 1 is about to hit 1 light day away in few days, earlier than the estimated November 2026?

#Voyager #Voyager1

@darkpixel On the one hand, apparently it already got there on 29th March according to some NASA quotes but going off their interactive website, it’s still slated for November but on the third hand, by the numbers from the bot, and the other NASA webpage, it looks like it’ll be in about 10 days (at 11 light-seconds per day.)

(The website, like the bots, is an extrapolated distance rather than actual mission data which might explain why there’s confusion.)

@zimpenfish Thanks. Had to look up for official confirmation. 2026 is a good year for Voyager 1. 😀

@darkpixel Did some more digging and bloody hell, I despair.

“Voyager 1 Breaks One Light‑Day Barrier — Still Sending Science From Interstellar Space”

Ok, I guess it was one light day away on March 31st then…

“Right now a one‑way message takes about 23 hours and 32 minutes to reach the probe.”

WHAT THE ACTUAL.

HOW IS 23 HOURS AND 32 MINUTES ONE BLOODY LIGHT DAY YOU NINCOMPOOPS?

“NASA projects the one‑way delay will reach a full 24 hours by November 2026”

I despair of everything.

@zimpenfish Yes, I'm getting mixed messages too, some headlines are for clicks lol. Some live trackers seems about right, just few minutes off. I don't think it reached record on March 31, unless official announced by NASA? Could be days or weeks from now, Nov. 2026 for full 24 hours... every full seconds counts lol

Regardless of estimated target, I believed Voyager 1 is currently breaking barriers as it's gaining speed?
