We took off Odin’s halter and tied him to an extra long leash anchored to a tree. He’s never been on an extra long lead before, so he immediately sprinted towards another dog and made a very confused yelp when his runway ran out
@0xabad1dea I shouldn't laugh, but I did. Sorry Odin.
@0xabad1dea is he not trustable off leash yet?
@me outdoor recall is his biggest weakness, and someone else’s Easter party is not the time to practice
@0xabad1dea he is still a good boy, though, a decent Entity
@0xabad1dea I worry more about the tree.

@0xabad1dea
Good long leash! Bailey was a fraction Odin's size, rottie-pibble cross, but the first time she hit the end of her long leash the leash and anchor both broke.

Has he gotten used to it, I hope? I want Odin always happy and never yelping. I loves him.

@silvermoon82 oh he didn’t run it out again, he just didn’t realize long leash was real until it happened
@0xabad1dea may we assume that the tree is ok?
@0xabad1dea Hopefully the leash is sturdy. We learned not to trust leather leashes that have rivets. They are a guaranteed point of failure. Or first RR snipped it apart while tethered to a tree after he jumped after a cat.
@afx Odin is not a super pully dog, he just didn’t understand yet that he was on a long leash until it pulled. Once he understood, he didn’t pull it taut again
@0xabad1dea they make little bungie segments you can add onto the end of the lead so the impulse when it runs out isn’t so violent, btw
@jason this was someone else’s leash and the sort of thing that might come up once a year. He’s not a pully dog, he just didn’t know long leads are real yet
@0xabad1dea He then uprooted the tree & carried it like a stick?
