Hello type friends! I’m seeking some advice. I’m nearing the release of my first font for my foundry and while I’ve sold a few typefaces through third parties like MyFonts and YouWorkForThem I’m considering offering them directly through my own site. This feels like a fresh start and I’d like to explore that avenue. I’ve looked at Fontdue but given this is a new venture I can’t justify the monthly costs at the moment. Do you have any recommendations for alternatives I could incorporate into my site? I’d really appreciate your help!
@Stuarthazley not exactly incorporated into my site, but i currently use Gumroad & link to it from my foundry site. blatantly borrowed this idea from Nuform Type
@Stuarthazley Several of my Type Advisor clients use or have considered Foundry Core: https://foundrycore.tipografia.com.ar

@Stuarthazley Fastspring is a good option since there is no fixed monthly cost. You only pay a percentage of sales which ends up being about 5-6%. It's not perfect but if you can accept some limitations it's great for getting started
@Stuarthazley “email me for licensing” works fine, plus stripe invoicing. Or any of the other options already mentioned.
@thierryblancpain @Stuarthazley Slap a PayPal button on a static specimen. Maybe a test font download too. If it works out, develop the site for future releases. You do not need a fully fledged foundry CMS early on.
@klim @Stuarthazley We actually launched with PayPal pay me now buttons back in 2009. I’d send out the files whenever I got back to a computer and saw the purchase. But that was 2009. I’d rather have the email conversation and get to know people so early on it I’d start over again.
@Stuarthazley if you are severely short of funds, you can try my free wordpress plugin with self hosted wordpress https://wordpress.org/plugins/font-type-tester/

@Stuarthazley Hey Stuart! I've been working on building out the type tester part of this problem. I've got a type tester plugin built out but only for Framer. If you wanted your site on framer you could hypothetically set it up with links to purchase via something like LemonSqueezy. My type tester demo is here, let me know if you'd like to try it out https://typeframer.seahcb.com

@Stuarthazley Echo Thierry and Kris’ suggestions.

But also, @Fountain from @andreasnymark also looks very interesting!

@Stuarthazley I’d be happy to show you Fountain. It’s still beta, but a first foundry site using Fountain is actually on it’s way. Also, beta users get a discount :)
