Halftone Printing Plate

Another 3D printed printing plate, now with halftone...

RasterWeb!
@rasterweb this is a neat approach! I’ve got a couple wood blocks to try printing. My approach was laser engraving the negative space. I’m wondering how halftone engraving with the laser would go now

@maddiefuzz I used to laser etch my plates but had too many issues, mostly due to my crappy laser cutter, so I switched to 3D printing.

Halftones should would great for laser etched plates. You'll just need to figure out how small of a dot/line you can get away with.

Same problem, just different challenges. 😉

@rasterweb I found these posts extremely confusing until I figured out that you’re making plates for *ink* printing and not 3D printer bed plates (to transfer an impression onto the bottom layer of a model). Maybe worth a clarification!
@dwineman Sorry! There are two links in the first paragraph that may be useful.
@rasterweb Yes, read those, and I think I got hung up on the phrase “3D printed printing plates” using two different meanings of “print.” Entirely possible this is just a me problem!
@dwineman You’ll want to avoid the post where I 3D printed a printing press to make 2D prints on paper using laser etched plates… or maybe not?
@rasterweb
Whats the tool you converted the picture to halftone with?
@laryllan I used Affinity Photo. (Forgot to mention that!) I assume other raster imaging editors have similar capabilities.
