Sunshine on a gray day.
And yes, that's some snow still there.

@dillyd I thought it was a squash flower at first, but that didn't make sense
@sunumbral
Definitely similar! Which reminds me, I want to try some three sister planting this year.
@dillyd lovely textures and shades
@dillyd
I love the wavy look to the flowers.
@dillyd Such beautiful, unfurling movement here ๐Ÿ˜

@dillyd Beautiful colour in contrast to the snow.

Hibiscus donโ€™t flower here until August. I bought one as a present as it will be in flower for my Dadโ€™s Birthday.

@Broadfork
What a thoughtful gift! This one is weird. I always think it'll flower outside in the summer, but it tends to flower in the middle of winter indoors instead.

@dillyd Some of the flowers that would traditionally be in flower in August often struggle with the extra heat we now have.

Finding replacements Dad likes isnโ€™t easy but he likes this hibiscus.

@Broadfork
Oh that's beautiful!

@Broadfork @dillyd

I like hibiscus too, I always try to clone clippings, and I had the Rose of Sharon variety, and wanted the purple ones, so I grew my type for another person to get one of theirs. I have a purple one waiting for the frost to be gone to plant it

@Rasta @Broadfork
I never thought of trying a clipping.

While everyone thinks I have a green thumb, it's not without disappointment. I've killed as many seeds and trees as I've grown.
When my wife and I used to walk in spring in the city (warmer in May) they had paths through green spaces in each cul-de-sac, the shortcut to school for the kids.
On public paths, city maintained, they put fences against the private properties on each side, keeping travellers off private lawns. The bushes and plants grow through, over and under, and I take my pruning shears, some extra large zip lock bags with a wad of wet paper towel at the bottom, and I take samples home to grow, of everything. I've not yet had luck with Rhododendron or Magnolia but I'm still trying both. I'll buy a Magnolia tree this year, I won't live long enough to see the flowers from a cutting. But, 3 joints, bottom one with stim on it, in a pot, keep moist. I like to put them in a Red Solo Cup, and put a baggie over the top to keep moisture in (watch for mold) until they root

@Rasta @Broadfork similar for me, people think I have a green thumb, because they see the survivors. You're definitely inspiring me to do the walk with a ziploc bag and scissors.
@dillyd
Don't get caught LOL, my rose of sharon was given me, by a lady I asked along the fence. She dug up several roots of things too and I had a bucket. She said, where's your car, and I said, we're out for a walk LOL, it was hard carrying it home
@Broadfork @dillyd that is a fancy hibiscus!
@dillyd this is a superb closeup
