Does anyone else, like, rehearse their small talk answers in their head and plan which topics they will bring up as an ice breaker before talking to people or is this another one of those "autism assessments are too expensive to justify" things
@Dio9sys i do this too but i hate to tell you this that i am also in the "autism assessments are too expensive to justify" camp
@Dio9sys by having knitting or spinning with me at all times, I basically set the topic.
@TindrasGrove
I always keep a curio nearby so I can do show and tell when the conversation lulls. I am not great at understanding some things, but showing off a cool thing from my purse almost always elicits a positive response
@Dio9sys Weeks of rehearsing what I am going to say, followed by weeks of "what I should have said was..."
@Dio9sys 100%! I usually rehearse possible topics, opening lines or questions i can ask beforehand, promptly forget most of it in the moment, and end up ruminating and analyzing the convo for days or more after. Oh and yes, autism assessments are most def too expensive!
@Dio9sys I had to move to a different country to get an autism assessment, so.
